Jill Thornton

Jill Thornton

Jill brings over 25 years of clinical experience across NHS and private healthcare settings and is a Registered Nurse.

Jill supports individuals who experience emotional or psychological difficulties, including anxiety, low mood, trauma, and the effects of abuse. She also works with people who may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or uncertain about their next steps, including those navigating the emotional and psychological impact of menopause. In addition, support is offered to clinicians and healthcare professionals experiencing compassion fatigue, burnout, or a loss of confidence in their work.

Jill’s approach is calm, grounded and collaborative. She draws on transactional analysis alongside mindfulness and meditation to help build insight, emotional regulation, and personal growth. Transactional analysis offers a practical and compassionate way of understanding how early experiences can influence the way people think, feel and relate to others in the present. It can bring clarity to unhelpful patterns and support greater choice and self-awareness in everyday life.

Alongside her private practice, Jill holds a role in clinical education and volunteers, supporting survivors of sexual trauma. She works with adults from a wide range of backgrounds and has experience supporting neurodivergent clients.

Jill offers a free 15-minute online consultation to explore whether working together feels like a good fit. She believes the therapeutic relationship is central to meaningful and effective therapy. Sessions are available in person, online or as walk-and-talk therapy. Please read our Counselling & Psychotherapy page for further information or contact us for an appointment or advice.
