What is McTimoney Chiropractic?

McTimoney Chiropractic is a precise, whole-body approach to chiropractic care that focuses on correcting misalignments in the spine and other joints. It is based on the belief that these misalignments can interfere with the body’s natural ability to heal itself, leading to pain, discomfort and other health problems.

McTimoney Chiropractors use a variety of techniques to adjust the spine and joints, including specific adjustments, soft tissue work and joint mobilisations. They also work with patients to identify and address the underlying causes of their pain, such as poor posture, stress or injury.

Why might I need to see a McTimoney Chiropractor?

Chiropractic is particularly recognised for being effective in treating neck and back pain, however, it is used to treat many musculoskeletal conditions affecting the body including:

  • Sciatica
  • General, acute & chronic backache, back pain (not arising from injury or accident)
  • Lumbago
  • Mechanical neck pain
  • Headache arising from the neck (cervicogenic headaches)
  • Migraine prevention
  • Muscle spasms and cramp, generalised aches and pains
  • Joint pain – including hip and knee pain from osteoarthritis
  • Shoulder complaints – including soft tissue problems or rotator cuff injuries/disorders
  • Elbow pain and tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis)
  • Minor sports injuries
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Ankle sprains
  • Tension and an inability to relax

The gentle nature of McTimoney Chiropractic makes it suitable for a wide range of patients from the young to the very elderly.

We work closely with other allied health professionals and if we feel your problem is not suitable for chiropractic care or needs further investigation, we will liaise with your GP or other health care providers to arrange an appropriate referral, provided you give us your permission to do so.
